Medical Care

We spend more than any other country on medical care, why do we settle for less?  The US is not a third world country yet even third world countries provide a minimum level of medical care for free. We are able to provide this minimum service.  This kind of medical care is an investment in our people.  Fundamental inexpensive medical services should be made available to all persons regardless of income level.

Beyond this basic coverage our current system remains intact.  Medical insurance can be purchased for those who would like a more comprehensive standard of care.  Insurance can be purchased from private companies or from government exchanges.  The government will compete just as the post office competes with UPS, Fedex, etc.

Businesses will not be required to provide medical care, though a medical plan can and should be used to attract better employees. Insurance will be cheaper for all since basic medical care will already be provided for.

Insurance companies will be allowed to compete across state lines and frivolous malpractice lawsuits will be handled via inexpensive arbitration.
